Regional Civil Society Organizations Supporting Free Trade with Europe, Signature of Grant Agreements by Target CSOs
On March 30, 2018, the Czech non-governmental organization People in Need arranges the event within the EU-funded project "Civil Society Organizations Supporting Free Trade with European Union." The event is devoted to the signature of grant agreements with the project target civil society organizations (CSO) in the seven regions of Georgia - Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Adjara and Kvemo-Kartli.
The signature of grant agreement starts the next phase of the project, which implies the establishment of Informational Resource Desks (IRD) on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) on the base of these target CSOs. The IRDs are destined to help local rural small and medium enterprises (SME), farmers and smallholders to become better informed and aware of DCFTA and eventually bring their products in line with DCFTA requirements and EU standards. This is necessary to supply local markets with safe products and to get an opportunity of access to the EU markets and increase income. Additionally, target CSOs with IRDs will participate in the monitoring and advocacy of the improvements related to SME and DCFTA policies on the ground. The project is a part of the EU assistance in strengthening capacities of regional CSOs and contributing thereby to the installation of DCFTA in Georgia's rural regions in order to support the integration of Georgia into the EU markets.
Project Partners are the Rural Communities Development Agency, PMC Research Center and Association "Atinati". The Georgian Alliance on Agriculture and Rural Development will support the project's advocacy efforts.
The event starts at 12:00 at Tbilisi Marriot Hotel (Queen Tamar Hall), 13, Ave. Shota Rustaveli
